Even the Swoosh can’t resist a little bit of hearty brown canvas.
For the first time ever, the Swoosh is teaming up with the classic workwear brand’s cooler and much hipper sub-label—Carhartt WIP—for four sneakers, each of which mix iconic Nike silhouettes with timeless work-ready materials. First up is the Air Force 1 Utility Low, a supercharged version of the streetwear staple that comes decked out in Carhartt’s signature camo tiger pattern. The inside of the shoe is lined with wool for added warmth and there’s a ballistic nylon strap for added utilitarian vibes. The second AF1 sneaker of the collection is slightly simpler; it’s made from Carhartt Hamilton brown canvas and corduroy and features the addition of wool lining and reflective ink. (That Hamilton brown is a signature Carhartt shade so essential to the brand it was named after the founder.) There’s a Vandal Supreme High in classic black, and the final sneaker is the Air Max 95, which mixes black canvas and camo tiger ripstop compliment reflective materials and pops of neon color.
It’s a bit of an unexpected move to see Nike—master of all things futuristic and performance=—turn to a old-school-with-a-twist brand like Carhartt WIP that’s better known for heritage than innovation. But workwear has picked up too much steam in the worlds of fashion and streetwear to be ignored, and the Swoosh knows to strike while the iron is still hot. Whether you’re looking for a sneaker that screams “workwear” or one that feels like a more rugged version of a classic Nike, this collection has got you covered.
